Released on: June 2, 2007
We're starting off the summer with Sarin Sunday's "The Lonely Hike", a contemplative walk through retro synths and full-bodied downtempo beats. Enriched with vocal samples and field recordings the release is heavily layered guaranteeing a lasting listen.
Expressing a reflection of the past and a direction for the future, "The Lonely Hike" evokes complex narratives almost purely through sonic compositions. The creator of Sarin Sunday, Seth Haley from New York, demonstrates his ability to manipulate mood and emotion through melody, rhythm and ambience.
Just as the sunshine is broken through the trees, "Light Fragments" breaks melody into elegant glimmering facets that echo across the shadows. The title track "Lonely Hike" is an open ended thought with the unknowingly persuasive term "energy" repeatedly engraved across the entire song. "Madilynn Rain Drops" invites us away from our shaded locality with alluring laughter but leaves us faced with her agitated habitat that is laced with glitchy beats and distressed synths.
Sarin Sunday's "The Lonely Hike" is masterfully built to fulfill all senses and and is unlimited in its ability to reroute thoughts. We expect to see future releases from Seth while we continually enjoy TLH during the summer.
